(1838-1875) Pupil of Pierre-Joseph Zimmerman,
father-in-law of Gounod, Bizet feeds all its life a
big admiration for the author of Faust. Repeater of
the young person Bizet, Gounod played an important
role in the forming of the musician. In spite of
their difference of age (Gounod was twenty years
old more than Bizet), the two people were big
friends.

BERLIOZ

(1803-1869) Isolated in a French musical world
dominated by the music of theatre, Berlioz, who is
above all a man of concert, has to, to survive,
hold the musical column of the " newspaper of
debates ". he is interested in the young musicians:
Saint-Saens, Bizet, Gounod. Gounod he dedicated a
big admiration.

LEFUEL

(1810-1881) Hector Lefuel obtains the same year
as Gounod the Big Price for Rome but in
architecture. They meet themselves in the Villa
Medicis. Lefuel will become the chief architect of
the new Louvre in 1854. The two people are going to
maintain an important correspondence.

PIGNY

Husband of Berthe Zimmerman, the sister-in-law
of Gounod. He was an architect. Gounod he confided
the decoration of his Parisian apartment of the
place Malesherbes. He maintained with him an
important correspondence during the stay in
England.

DUBUFFE
|
(1819-1883) Husband of Juliette Zimmerman and
artist painter. In 1852, by the marriage with Anna
Zimmerman, sister of Juliette, Charles Gounod
becomes the brother-in-law of Dubuffe. Bonds of
friendship very solid are formed then.

MATHILDE

(1820-1904) German cousin of Napoleon III. It
seems that Gounod entered in connection with the
princess Mathilde through his friend Hébert.
A bond of friendship was formed then and Gounod
appears among the regular visitors to the princess
till the end of his life.

Ernest
HEBERT
|
(1817-1908) Artist painter, he obtains also the
First prize of Rome the same year as Gounod but in
his speciality. A robust friendship bound the two
people until Gounod's death.
